Healing the Blind: Personal experience with God

Blindness walking stickWhy do we put God in a box? Or a Ziploc bag? Or a room with a ceiling? We create these images of who & what God is based SOLELY on our personal experience with Him. Perhaps we should consider that we limit God when we look at Him in such a fashion.

Recently this concept was brought back to mind by someone who commented on my blog. She said:

I think a lot of people have had their experience of salvation and decide that your experience of salvation has to look the same. … God meets us so… individually.

Do You Have ’10’?

Number 10It’s always easier to be critical when looking back. And not just about ourselves. Attend any history class and you’ll probably end up thinking our ancestors were rather… well… dumb.

It becomes even more apparent when we read scripture that we’re reading the history of folks who just don’t learn quickly. There’s the whole Abraham & Sarah story I’ve mentioned before… but keeping with that family, let’s look at Abraham’s nephew, Lot.

When you hear “Sodom & Gomorrah” we think of sin, God’s punishment, and destruction. You might think of the pillar of salt his wife became as they were rushed away. All these are just small parts of the whole story. Continue reading
