It’s always easier to be critical when looking back. And not just about ourselves. Attend any history class and you’ll probably end up thinking our ancestors were rather… well… dumb.
It becomes even more apparent when we read scripture that we’re reading the history of folks who just don’t learn quickly. There’s the whole Abraham & Sarah story I’ve mentioned before… but keeping with that family, let’s look at Abraham’s nephew, Lot.
When you hear “Sodom & Gomorrah” we think of sin, God’s punishment, and destruction. You might think of the pillar of salt his wife became as they were rushed away. All these are just small parts of the whole story. Continue reading
